Wait no more. It is true that MSN has kept their promise to the millions, billions of their free Hotmail service users. The Washington-based company has decided to give 250 MB of storage to each of the free MSN and Hotmail users. This news is reason for celebration for those of us who like storing messages, pictures and various other files in an immediate but convenient e-mail. If the competitors think they can challenge this Goliath, let them raise the bar and see which one will go under.

Towards the middle of 2004, Yahoo kept up with a major competitor by offering 100 MB of free Yahoo accounts. During that time, MSN only announced that it plans on matching or even surpassing the storage offered by Yahoo. In fact, by giving 250 MB, Microsoft has regained its leadership position. At the same time, it has positioned the free Hotmail e-mail network as the premier e-mail which it has been all along. This new donation, right before Christmas, will result in having many former users come back for more.

With a new and improved search engine, the company is getting ready to take on its competitors. It's going a dirty, mudslinging match. In a few months from now or a few quarters down the line, shareholders of all these companies will be able to see the difference in the ups and downs, floats and downward turns of their stocks. The accounting books won't lie. All of them are counting on their largess to the general public to give them their good faith.
