What makes this EasyShare System so easy to use?
What are its major components?
Before you go out to purchase this camera, make sure you have a computer that can support it. If you have a computer that was built in the last five years, you will be fine. If you have a PC, make sure it was designed for Windows 98, 98SW, 2000 or ME; 200 MHz processor or greater; 32 MB RAM; CD-ROM Drive; unoccupied USB port; 16-bit or higher color monitor. Those are the only requirements your PC must have. If you own a powerPC-based Macintosh computer, you will be in business too.
As you were taking things out of the boxes, you will remember that you took out a CD. It is the Kodak Picture Software one. You have to install this software first. Do so before connecting the camera or docking it to the computer. Make sure you don't trash a plastic insert. You will have to install it in the camera dock. It's the dock insert. In fact, there is a red label on it that tells you not to discard it. Once you are done installing the dock insert, go ahead and connect the cable to the USB port in the back of your computer (It has the same sign that matches that of the cord in your hands). Install the battery pack that comes with the dock. You can also purchase some spare batteries. Keep in mind that the Kodak Ni-MH Rechargeable battery pack can be recharged by the Camera Dock. It's important to remember that if the light flashes green, then you have enough battery life. It's fully charged. Bear in mind that alkaline batteries are not recommended or supported unfortunately. That's not a problem at all since your can always carry the spare batteries and/or recharge whenever necessary. When placing the camera in the dock, turn it off. The next thing you have to do is to get ready to take pictures. Once you familiarize yourself with the mode selector and the digital zoom button or select, you will be ready to take your picture, review it, decide to keep it or delete it if you don't like it. Don't get confused over the USB connector and the power connector. Keep them separate behind your desk. One thing to keep in mind is that if everything went well, getting your pictures saved on your hard drive or disk or save them as e-mail will only take a matter of minutes, if not seconds.
How Can You Transfer Files To The Computer?
By now, you have already plugged the USB cable to the right port. With your camera on, just place it in the dock. The light should be blinking to show the live connection. By pressing on the connect button, you will get your pictures once you get into the Kodak EasyShare software. It will open automatically so that you can do some work on the pictures. You can trim, enhance, darken, lighten and do a lot of tricks with them. I have also found out that you can also trim your pictures by using Corel Photo sources. Photoshop will do the same. You will need to apply the changes and save them when you are done. You can either select or throw away some of these pictures. Select the right ones and save them. You can either choose to print them, which is a long and expensive process (ink use) or send them to friends who have e-mail. These pictures are saved as JPG. What I have seen some people do is to have an online album to which they can invite their friends to peruse.
Whatever you choose to do is your business. You will probably be doing many more interesting things with this camera. Share your pictures with your kids, grandchildren, parents and in-laws. There is no reason not to stay in touch any longer. A few words of advice or warning: Pictures take a lot of space in your hard drive. If you choose to save them on your hard drive, no matter how fast your computer was, over time, it will record a slow down. Devise other ways to store them if you are going to have a fairly large number of them. Find some online programs and sites where you can store them. The only thing is to have a slow computer. Pictures use lots of pixels. After all, you will not need to many of them for your pictures. It's good this Camera comes equipped with over 3 mega-pixels. It has an internal storage capacity of 8 MB. The LCD screen is not that bad either. The only drawback lies in the relatively low level of zoom. That's not this camera's only drawback. All digital cameras tend to have this problem. Others may have more of something else, but low on some areas.
Good luck using this Kodak EasyShare Digital Camera this year!
