The Saints Come Marching Back to the Superdome

Fans digging out of the ravages of Katrina will find comfort either in a win or a loss. They have one of the best players on their team, Reggie Bush, who has adopted the city. He has done and participated in so many acts of charity. He has given money to many organizations. He is the one who is uplifting people's spirits. Now that the Saints are going to face Falcons at the Superdome tonight, that is like gravy.

Having won their first two games, the Saints are in a good position to enjoy their return to the Superdome which was ravaged by Katrina. For some time, fans will forget about the devastation it suffered. They are coming home. Their presence will represent people who huddled on rooftops just a year ago. Winning for the Saints will be like a rebirth for the city. There is so much at stakes. Even in a loss, the symbols will be great. The Lower Ninth Ward will be reborn. By itself, the Superdome has made a great comeback. From a scene of suffering and abject poverty and negligence and indifference, it will be a source of pride and joy soon. The superdome is sold out for the season. Rock icons U2 and Green Day will be there for the pregame show. It will be like a superbowl at the superdome.

Tiger Woods, Wife Elin Nordegren, The Ryder Cup & The US Team in Ireland: Allegations of Porn Posing Flatly Rejected

Tiger Woods Stood Up for Swedish Wife Elin Nordegren, Stuck It to Irish Publisher Dubliner Media Limited

Kudos for Tiger! If you mess with the tiger, you will get a huge bite. In other words, you mess with the bull, you get its horns! Tiger Woods and the U.S. golfing team are in Ireland to play in the Ryder Cup at The K Club. Lo and behold, to sell more papers, the Dubliner Magazine decided to publish pictures of Tiger's wife suggesting a link to porn web sites. They were the same pictures which were found to be not his wife two years go. So Tiger asked for a prompt news conference to deal with the publisher of the magazine. He wanted to nip it in the buds. Otherwise, other publishers would just go on publishing the same indecent pictures on various web sites. The Irish Daily already expanded on the publication by The Dubliner. Tiger is a husband who stood up for his beloved wife. At the same time, he stopped the psychological warfare that the Europeans were trying to put on. By taking his mind off the game, they thought they had a better chance to win the Ryder cup this year.

Mea Culpa from The Publisher of The Dubliner, "the publisher and staff at the Dubliner acknowledge that the satirical article was inappropriate and wish to sincerely apologize to Tiger Woods, his wife, Elin Nordegren and other Ryder Cup players and their families for any offense they may have taken to it." Tiger made sure not to direct his anger at the Irish people, his Irish fans and gallery. He addressed directly the publisher of the magazine for allowing such info to pass for news. He saw his father being ridiculed before. He is not ready to let this happen to him and his wife. His parents were involved in interracial relationships just like him. He wants respect for his wife. "He is in it together. He does things for people he cares about. He cares about his wife."

Toby Keith Music Brings Fans to ChukChansi Park Downtown Fresno

Welcome to the Chukchansi Park, The Central Valley's Field of Dreams & Entertainment

The Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino is now married to Grizzlies Stadium in downtown Fresno, California. The casino pays $16 million for the right to rename the stadium. It is now known as Chukchansi Park. Welcome to the Chukchansi Entertainment Center. Grizzlies as the Fresno Baseball Club was known is no more. Enters Chukchansi, a name to get used to if one is in the entertainment business. Lo and behold, the name is not all about entertainment. It is also about gambling on Indian lands. But according to the terms of the contract, Chukchansi will be marketed as a resort destination and gaming would not be mentioned in signs and promotions. What a great promise to keep! The temptations abound for sure. Well, the reason is that by law, advertising cannot marry baseball to any gambling activity. Wherever there is a will, there will be ways to circumvent regulations. So a good scenario looks like this. A fan may hear about a concert hosted by Chukchansi resort at Chukchansi park. He will just happen to find out that the resorts also has slot machines in which he can lose his quarters and bills. Then, he may want to find out more about the resort and entertainment center. Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi tribe built its casino and 197-room hotel, located on Highway 41 south of Coarsegold. The tribe's casino and resort is in competition with other local casinos such as Tachi Palace or Table Mountain. Obviously, these casinos can not advertise at the ballpark.

What is in it for Chukchansi? Name recognition. That is one of the principles of advertising and marketing. Big time exposure on a local and national level. Each PCL team announces its team will be playing at Chukchansi Park in Fresno. More inquiry will be raised. As entertainment, Chukchansi will host Toby Keith in a concert. Anything Chukchansi Park will sell. Welcome to the merchandise inventory.

Pat Hill's in Trouble: The Ducks of Oregon University Have The Win and The Uniform Too

Who would say that University Football is not into Fashion? Well, Oregon's Fashion Comes in a Large Variety

As Oregon Football Team is getting ready to take on the Bulldogs at Fresno State, everybody is talking about the team's new uniforms. The Ducks Uniforms come in yellow, white, green and black. They already have an all-green helmet. The all-yellow and all-white helmets will come later. Why not talk about the game first? The leaders of Oregon Football prefer to take on the pounding strengths of the Bulldogs with their uniforms. Maybe it is something psychological for them. If the players feel good, look great, they will want to play hard to defeat Fresno State. One thing is clear. Oregon's choice of fashion puts him on the fashion map. People, fans and journalists are talking about them. Well, it may be always for the right reasons, but they are talking about the team. Oregon's coach Mike Bellotti said that the team has so many options of uniforms. "He'll have to coach another 10-15 years to get them all on the field."

Who would not seize the opportunities offered by Team Nike? That's what Oregon is - Team Nike!

Nike is not far from Eugene, Oregon. It is responsible for Oregon's fourth significant uniform change since 1996. Oregon has become the official lab for the major sports fashion company. What is clear is that the company has players, visible ones who provide it with free advertising. Well, let us take it back. It is not really free. Nothing can pay the exposure the company gets from all the media exposure and eyeballs. Yes, the players have to wear brand new wear. The uniforms are ventilated and designed to weigh less even when sweat-soaked. Why then do the Ducks get selected as worst dressed most of the times? When wearing all-yellow, the players were nicknamed human highlighters. As long as Nike is there, Oregon will have free access to state-of-the art uniforms which can be used as a recruiting factor for many young players. In addition, many of them can find employment there. Oregon is not a poor team. It has rich sponsors with deep pockets. The question to ask is whether they have football. The bulldogs will pound on them for all the reasons they can imagine.

Well, by the way, The Ducks beat the Bulldogs on their own turf. Well Oregon always beat Fresno State any way.

Steve Irwin Died Doing What He Liked Most

Steve Irwin died doing what he loved best, getting too close to one of the dangerous animals he dedicated his life to protecting with an irrepressible, effervescent personality that propelled him to global fame as television’s “Crocodile Hunter.” The 44-year-old Irwin’s heart was pierced by the serrated, poisonous spine of a stingray as he swam with the creature Monday while shooting a new TV show on the Great Barrier Reef, his manager and producer John Stainton said. Freak Occurrence, Freak Accident: Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, is Dead

It is such a tragedy that the man who is closer to crocodiles did not die on land but in the ocean from a ferocious attack from a stingray.

What do we know about stingrays?

Stingrays are strange-looking but normally shy creatures whose defenses include poisonous, serrated barbs in their tails.

How many species are there?

At least 35 species of stingrays swim in the tropical waters of Australia's Great Barrier Reef, where television personality Steve Irwin died Monday when he was stabbed in the heart by a ray's barb.

They said the triangular-shaped rays are usually unobtrusive, gliding through the water, rummaging on the sea bottom for food or burrowing into the sand. But when stepped on or otherwise frightened, they deploy spines up to 10 inches long with breadknife-like serrations as a defense mechanism.

"If it's spooked by someone stepping on it or swimming too closely over it, frightening it, the tail raises involuntarily," said Victoria Brims, a marine life expert at OceanWorld, an aquarium in Sydney, Australia.

The spines emit toxins that can kill many small creatures and that cause excruciating pain in humans. Few people die from the poison, but the spines can badly tear flesh and the wounds are prone to infections, including tetanus.

Simon Pierce of Queensland University's School of Biological Sciences said there were no accurate records of stingray deaths, but estimated there had been about 30 worldwide in recent years.

Witnesses said Irwin was struck directly in the heart.

the man who made a name for himself cavorting with crocodiles is killed whilst filming a documentary about the ocean's deadliest creatures. But most experts agree that stingrays are usually incredibly docile animals, and a death like Irwin's is monumentally rare. According to marine life experts quoted in this AP story, stingrays never provoke an attack; their self-defense mechanisms respond involuntarily when humans (or other perceived predators) get too close. "It was extraordinarily bad luck," said marine neuroscientist Shaun Collin. "It's not easy to get spined by a stingray, and to be killed by one is very rare." Apparently, if the stingray had struck anywhere but Irwin's heart, he might have survived.

TO, Terrell Owens, Flamboyant Dallas Cowboys Player, Took Far Too Many Pills

In recovery from a hand surgery for a few days, Terrell Owens reportedly resorted to taking too many pain medications. His latest medication binge showed he was depressed and was trying to do something about it. He reportedly attempted to hurt himself by committing suicide.

What is a superstar if he can not use his prized hand to catch balls? What is a star player if he can not suit up? What is TO if he can not claim the spotlight due to injuries?

The recent hand injury is driving the Dallas Cowboys (seen below in camp training) nuts. Reports show that an unidentified friend tried to help Owens, but maybe it was too late. His mind was already set. He did not want to be half of himself any longer. "he friend, who is not identified in the report, "noticed that (his) prescription pain medication was empty and observed (Owens) putting two pills in his mouth," the police report said.

The friend attempted to pry them out with her fingers, then was told by Owens that before this incident he'd taken only five of the 40 pain pills in the bottle he'd emptied. Owens was asked by rescue workers "if he was attempting to harm himself, at which time (he) stated, `Yes."'

Did TO have a history of depression and mental health issues? Let's let those who know him best answer this question.

"Owens, one of the league's top receivers during his 11-year NFL career, is best known for wild stunts on the field and other publicity-seeking antics off it.

When the Cowboys signed him to a $25 million, three-year deal in March, they said their background checks indicated no red flags. In fact, team consultant Calvin Hill -- who mostly deals with troubled players -- said during training camp that his department was not involved with Owens because he didn't have a history of those kinds of problems. "

It appears that there are more cases of depression in the NBA, NFL and other leagues than people, coaches and owners are willing to admit. What would make somebody take such a drastic route to solve his physical ailments?
