Gavin Newsom was caught with his re-election campaign manager's wife. He had to apologize to the loyal man whose feelings he hurt and all San Franciscans. Can he blame it on alcohol? His detractors and opponents would see him as an unprincipled man who is not fit for such a high position in the City by the Bay. But again, this is San Francisco, Willy's old stomp ground. Newsom's deputy chief of staff, Alex Tourk, 39, confronted the mayor in an hour-long conference. Then, he resigned. Gavin Newsom was surprised he got caught. He was messing around with another man's wife while he was going through a divorce from his beautiful wife, Fox News Channel host Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former prosecutor and lingerie model. Ruby Rippey-Tourk confessed to her husband, Alex Tourk just last week. The affair was consumed over a year and a half ago.

Alex Tourk may have said to Gavin Newsom the following imagined, re-enacted choice statements:
"What's wrong with you? I did not know you were a jerk!"
"Hold it. What are you talking about, Alex?" responded Gavin Newsom. "How come you are so angry?"
"You know damn well what you did. I am writing you off in my book. I hope the City gives up on you too," probably said Alex Tourk.
"What's going on with the re-election campaign?"
"No, I am not here to talk about campaign. I am here to let you know that you have been messing with the wrong man. I want to live long enough to see you regretting every single second you spent with my wife."
"Come on now. I never had anything to reproach your wife. She was a good secretary. She did a formidable work for me."
"Do not give me this BS. You know damn well what you did. I know what you too did. You slept with my wife."
Silence. The mayor remained speechless. All along, he knew what Alex was alluding to. But he did not want to feed him anything.
"How many times have you slept with my wife? How did you treat her? Did you tell her not to be intimate with me?"
"Man, I do not know what to tell you. This was a private matter between me and your wife. You know she had an alcohol problem."
"Now you want to blame it on the booze. You should have known better than that. Do you know what is more painful? It is the fact that she has been sending me to hell all these months. I could never figure out what was going on. Her intimacy was not for me any longer."
"To tell you the truth, I did not have time for her. I did not want to put her in this situation. One thing led to another, after a few beers and glasses of wine, we ended up shacking up."
"Gavin, you could have had any woman in the City. Everybody knows you are handsome. I know your secrets. Why did you have to bed my wife, man? Where was your mind?"
"I will tell you that it was a personal lapse of judgement. I was not thinking at all. The alcohol took over our bodies. I regretted it each time we were intimate."
"Now, how many times?"
"I can not count. I do not think it matters much. It was something that happened last year. I knew you confronted your wife about it."
"You know what? She did not tell me anything. Did you tell her not to say anything to me?"
"Yes. I was scared. I did not want you to know. I did not want to disappoint you. You are my friend, my best man in the City. But I could not resist your wife. She stole my heart. She gave me something I needed during my divorce. She was a good transition."
The two men always came to blows on various occasions. It was clear that Alex Tourk had the moral upper hand. He was doing the right thing. He was defending his honors. Gavin Newsom was cornered. He had nowhere to run to. He started asking for forgiveness. He was cornered like a wild animal that feared for his well-being. He started sweating. He loosened his tie. It was his worst day in office. His divorce was not as bad. Alex Tourk did not mince words. He unloaded on him the full content of his mind.
Dejected and becoming an emotional wreck since the revelations became public, top S. F. bachelor Gavin Newsom, soon called a City Hall news conference. "I want to make it clear that everything you've heard and read is true and that I'm deeply sorry about that," the mayor said. Free Translation: I screwed up. I betrayed the most loyal employee of my cabinet, my deputy chief of staff. I messed with my right hand man's wife. I am a pig. No, I am a freaking dog. The mayor should have known better than that. How could he betray such a hard-working man? King David slept with his warrior's wife. He had him placed in the front line where he got killed so he could have his wife. Gavin Newsom did not go to this extreme. He may have kept Alex Tourk busy with some campaign details while he was planning his good time with this poor man's wife. Newsom may have sent him on some missions. No wonder his wife did not want to be with him! Alex Tourk was going through hell. He could not understand what the problem was. Well, his wife was too tired for him. She had another man on her mind. The Mayor was the other man in a crowded relationship. Oh man of power! Remember Diana and Prince Charles!
"My personal lapse of judgment aside, I am committed to restoring their trust and confidence. We will now be working aggressively to advance our agenda in the city." What else could he say?
Maybe Mayor Newsom will not need to work so hard. He may not have a second term. Where are the young San Franciscans who are not looking to sleep with married women? Let them come forward to lead the city.
