We, UrbanBooksEditors @ UBSBPublishing, are seeking submissions to a new anthology, titled, “Unless I Do Something” and subtitled, “A Writers’ Call to Arms Against Poverty, Hunger, Lack of Moral Values & Illiteracy.” This anthology will be published in the Summer of 2006. We are interested in the works of week-end or casual writers, first-time young and established writers. Remember that you don’t have to pay for any of the production costs which are going to be carried solely by UBSBPublishing.
Please go ahead and submit your short stories, essays, letters, short shorts, poems, opinions and recommendations. If you never considered letting others read your composition, if you have never visited the drawers where you hid those treasures, here’s your chance to take them out and review them before sending them to us. They may be selected to be published in a book format!
UBSBPublishing is interested in receiving tasteful 20-40 line poems and 2-4 page stories, novellas and essays from you. There are no restrictions or censure on style and the subjects or topics of your works. We will look for authenticity, decency and originality. Your contributions will be reviewed and edited solely by the UrbanBooksEditors @ UBSBPublishing. Payments for your contributions will be given to you as honorable mention and full credit in the published book. You can send us a short bio.
Rights: We are interested in first rights, worldwide. Please do not send previously published materials or simultaneous submissions. You will be free to republish your contribution, in English, elsewhere in the future, but we will retain rights for any and all future printings and translations of the anthology.

We have already received some submissions and lots of pledge. We accept only up to 3 contributions per person. We are shooting for a pool of 600 contributions out of which the final selections will be made.
The subject of the e-mail should read: Unless I Do Something. Please Pass this on to your friends, family members and kids, well, those who write.
Deadline: Fall 2005. Book Publication Date: Summer 2006.
Why Are We Doing This? What Are Our Goals? Here is your chance to be action-oriented, achievement-oriented, and pro-active. You have seen the pictures of famine, abject poverty, hurricane devastation, heavy losses in properties and human lives, desperate illegal immigration attempts, unsafe border crossing and boat people risking their lives. You read about these catastrophic events in the news day in and day out. The World Wide Web and other media broadcast the suffering of the world in our living room every day. We can give these people a reason to live in their country while getting access to education and health care. We now have a moral duty to do something about this. Through our writing, we can create a rippling effect of small acts of kindness which can make a huge difference in the lives of the desperate ones.
After the publishing costs are taken out, the rest of the proceeds will go to two missionary schools in Haiti and Guatemala to purchase supplies and pay teachers. After September 11, their sponsoring funds nearly dried up. If enough proceeds are obtained from the sales of these anthologies, other charitable organizations may also benefit in the future. Contributors to the anthology can buy at a discount.
